This naturally fermented lot from Cerrado Mineiro boasts bright notes of tropical fruit, ripe raspberry, and a zesty lime finish. It’s a lively cup with surprising clarity for a natural process, thanks to the care and control behind it.
That clarity starts at the source. Grown at 1,000–1,200 metres on Espigão do Palmital, this coffee benefits from warm, humid summers and dry winters, conditions that are ideal for slow, even cherry development. The farm’s mountainous terrain and attention to post-harvest detail allow the fruit’s natural sugars to shine, resulting in sweetness and structure in the cup.
Producer Gil Cesar de Melo has spent nearly three decades pursuing quality on this land, building on a legacy that began with his grandfather. Now, with his sons Edu and Hugo contributing fresh ideas and innovation, the Melo family is producing coffees that honour tradition while embracing innovation.
This lot is a great example of how Brazil continues to evolve in specialty coffee. With its fruit-forward profile and clean finish, it’s a versatile cup that works well across a range of brewing methods.
