Jigesa has been a staple of our single origin offerings for several years now. Every year we taste many different Ethiopian lots to see what’s out there, what the next harvest is going to be like and of course to bring to our discerning customers; and every year we land on Jigesa! This year however we’re trying something a little different; we’ve got a natural processed lot! The Jigesa washing station is named for the small village that services it and the local community. It is home to around 850 small producers and is involved in Testi Coffee’s Project Direct program which directly benefits schools and communities in rural areas. Jigesa’s quality assurance program ensures that only the ripest cherries are used in these high-end specialty lots and that producers are paid a premium based on their coffee’s quality. This particular lot is extremely complex; it retains the sweet lime and peach notes that we have come to expect from the washed version but also resonates with strawberry, blueberry and elderflower. This coffee is one of the best examples of an extremely clean and well-crafted natural Ethiopian. We are very excited to be able to share this new lot with you!
