It’s been years since we last featured a Gesha, and this washed lot from Finca Juan Martin shows why this variety is regarded so highly in specialty coffee.
Gesha is prized for its clarity, complexity, and refined sweetness. Originally traced back to Ethiopia, it’s known for delicate aromatics and a clean fruit profile that’s unlike any other. This lot, grown at 2,050 metres in the Cauca highlands, is a standout - bright and delicate, with a clean, fruit-forward profile.
Finca Juan Martin is an experimental farm operated by Banexport, designed to explore best practices in variety cultivation and processing. The farm also serves as a learning centre for other producers, offering training, employment, and resources to improve quality across the region. Coffees here are grown and processed with care, tailored to each variety’s needs. This lot is part of Banexport’s Variety Select program, which showcases the flavour potential of single-variety coffees.
A quietly complex and elegant cup, and a welcome return of one of the world’s most celebrated cultivars.
