The best places to get your Dimattina fix right now (VIC)

The Covid-19 Coronavirus has had an unprecedented impact on the way we live our lives. Physical distancing and isolation restrictions have sadly meant that many cafes and hospitality businesses across Australia have had to close their doors, perhaps permanently. For those that are still operating (in a takeaway only capacity) business has been slow, but many have received a great deal of support from their regular customers and community. These small businesses are an essential part of our society; cafes have long since served as a ‘third space’, meaning a comfortable place that is not home, not work but a retreat from both. In the current climate this third space becomes even more important now that many of us don’t even have a second space anymore! To help reunite people with their favourite coffee, or perhaps introduce them to a new one, we have compiled a list of cafes serving Dimattina coffee that you can still visit (and not stray from current restrictions). These are just a few of the amazing businesses in Victoria serving up Dimattina Coffee. Make sure you get behind them where possible and support our small local businesses.

John Gorilla

How often do you check out a menu at a café and realise that you want EVERYTHING? That’s John Gorilla. Everything about this café in West Brunswick is about comfort; the food (Gypsy Ham and Gruyere Toastie anyone?), the décor, the good vibes, everything you could ask for in times like these. Their coffee game is always on point and served with a smile from the beautiful custom white La Marzocco GB5; you can even grab a bag of their house blend to take home if you’re that way inclined. Oh, and the soup! Get the soup!

Coffee Geek Brewers

One of the great things about South Yarra is that it’s easy to walk everywhere, so what better place to stop into on your morning walk than Coffee Geek Brewers? The name is pretty straight-forward, these guys are true coffee geeks and they have the selection to prove it. Feel like trying a different blend today? No problem, they have three. Single origin? Sorted. Whether you’re out for your daily exercise or need to catch a ride into the city from nearby South Yarra Station, Coffee Geek Brewers is the ideal quick stop for your next coffee fix. Check out our previous write-up on them here.

Mr Tuppy

Husband and wife duo Dan and Kimi have crafted this unique space (an old newsagency) into something truly unique. While coffee and homemade pastries are front-and-centre, the modern Cambodian fusion food should not be overlooked; especially when you’re looking for some delicious takeout for dinner! The takeaway menu is extensive and very reasonably priced, it is also very vege-centric with some amazingly innovative (and healthy) combinations (try the Miso Eggplant!). Check out this Elwood gem today!

Parker’s Café

If you find yourself around the Parkdale area make sure you swing by Parker’s. Despite everything Parker’s is continuing to serve up their high-quality classic café breakfast fare and diverse lunch options in takeaway form and the results are stellar! Coffee is also a big deal at Parker’s and the team always represent our Prima Tazza blend at its best. Whether you live nearby or are just visiting, swing by and support this great local business!

North Cafeteria

Simple, homely and friendly are just a few ways to describe North Cafeteria in Carlton North. Owner Meg has maintained the famed warmth and quality of the business throughout the lockdown period with a takeaway menu that is extensive and offers many of the old favourites. The absence of a dividing coffee counter (the machine is right there in the café) further increases that sense customers get of being part of the North family; standing next to the barista while they prepare your coffee can be surprisingly gratifying. North has been a staple of Carlton North since 2007 and is still going strong. If you’re in the area drop by for quality chats and support an amazing local business!

23 Café

If you find yourself out east, 23 Café in Ringwood has got the goods. With a warm, family-friendly vibe, owners Lee and Karen have created a lovely retreat from the day-to-day. The menu is full of hearty contemporary Australian delights and they serve up a mean cup of our Grande Tazza blend. As part of the North Ringwood Shopping Centre, there’s no need to stray far from your grocery route either. With a strong takeaway menu and a beautiful assortment of sweet treats to take away, 23 Café is just the sort of place we all need in our lives.

Fourth Chapter

There’s no better way to say it; Fourth Chapter in Prahran is a beautiful space! Clean whites and natural wood accents are key to the modern, welcoming décor. A custom white La Marzocco Strada and friendly smiles greet the café’s many regular patrons who are always treated to top quality service. While you can’t currently partake in the full dine-in experience you would normally receive at Fourth Chapter, you can still enjoy the spectacular food and coffee. Whether you’re chasing a nutritious healthy brunch or just want to splash out on some fried chicken, Fourth Chapter is where it’s at!

Bean & Gone

With two drive-thru locations (Reservoir and Thomastown), there’s never been a better time to visit Bean & Gone. While drive-thru coffee is nothing new, Bean & Gone are truly the best in the business. Back in 2014, owners Tim and Dee started the Reservoir location which has gone from strength to strength; since then they have opened a second location with a dine-in experience (Poco Poco Eatery). While sadly you can’t currently dine-in, both drive-thru locations are still pumping out the goods in perhaps the most Covid-safe way possible; you don’t even need to leave the car!

Toast It Café

Toastie’s and coffee are the name of the game at Toast It Café in Moorabbin. Fast and easy to eat on the go (paired with your favourite takeaway coffee), is there a more perfect food for the takeaway-centric society we have become? And believe me, these are not your average toasted sandwiches; even the standard cheese toastie (The Plain Payne) comes with a special blend of three different cheeses (two cheddars and a mozzarella in case you were wondering). The menu is extensive and fully available (until sold out). Get in there today and redefine your perceptions of what the humble toasted sandwich can be!

There are so many cafes that are doing it tough right now, far too many to feature here. We will be promoting more every day on Instagram so give us a follow @dimattinacoffee for more cafes operating near you.
