Jigesa has been a staple of our single origin offerings for several years now. Nestled in the highlands of Shakisso, this washing station has become a benchmark for the bright, floral style Guji is loved for.
Jigesa is the first of 28 stations established by Testi Coffee, a family-run operation founded by Mr. Faysel A. Yonis. Around 500 smallholder farmers deliver their cherry here, most tending tiny plots of two to five hectares, growing coffee alongside corn, grain and bananas beneath native shade trees. At 1,851 metres above sea level, with cool temperatures and slow-ripening conditions, this corner of Guji produces some of the most expressive washed coffees in Ethiopia.
This lot comes from Testi’s Premium Cherry Selection program, a quality initiative that rewards farmers for delivering only the ripest cherries. This makes for a delightfully clean and floral cup. Jigesa is full of green apple acidity, pineapple sweetness, and honeysuckle.
